Tell us a little about yourself?
My name is Megan. I’m a bit of a transient – I grew up just outside of NYC, went to school in Colorado and then moved to LA for a few years before moving back to NYC. I’m currently sourcing fabrics for a women’s clothing line.

How did you meet your Groom?
Chris and I met in college. We were friends since our first year, but the romance didn’t spark until the end of our senior year. He’s from LA, so it was a lot of back and forth, on and off and long distance after graduation but somehow we made it work and here we are 8 years later!

How did you come across The Mews?
I had actually saved a picture of a Rime Arodaky dress not knowing what designer it was. Coincidentally, my friend happened to send me an Instagram post with the same dress that was tagged a few weeks later. I immediately researched who carried her dresses in NYC and saw that The Mews Bridal was opening a new location that Fall. I like to think of it as fate.

What styles were you channeling whilst dress shopping?
I wanted to wear my grandmother’s lace veil, so I was looking for something clean with a drape and whimsical touch.

Tell us about finding your perfect Wedding dress?
Finding what I had in mind was surprisingly hard! I did all of the traditional stops and was so unhappy with the results I started thinking of making my own. When I walked into The Mews though, I wanted to try everything on. My mom was with me, and when I put on the dress, I knew.

Where did your wedding day take place? Was there any themes or inspiration behind your day?
Our wedding was on Block Island, Rhode Island, where I grew up visiting my grandparents every summer, so it held a sentimental meaning for me and Chris. One of the biggest inspirations for both of us was the ocean and bringing out the natural beauty of the venue and the island without too many frills. We’re both from big crazy families so we knew all that really mattered to our guests was the view, the band and the size of the dance floor.

What did he wear?
Chris wore a navy suit…. with a pair of NBA basketball socks, featuring Magic Johnson and James Worthy.

What was your favourite detail of the day?
My favorite part was actually the night before. The weather can get pretty horrible out there, and the forecast had been back and forth all week. We were just sitting down to the Rehearsal dinner and the sky clouded over like it was going to storm. Then all of a sudden the sun broke through. Ten minutes later I had a text from my aunt with a picture of a double rainbow that looked like it was reaching over the ocean and touching down right on the restaurant. The next day there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. Talk about luck of the Irish!

What advice would you give out to a bride to be about finding the perfect dress?
Sometimes bringing a big audience means too many different opinions and can be overwhelming. Also, research what kind of dress you want before you go. You can only try on so many in one appointment.

Words of wedded wisdom?
Keep it simple & have fun! Don’t sweat the small stuff, even if mishaps occur you’ll be so happy and surrounded by all your loved ones. At the end of the day, that’s all matters.
