Tell us a little about yourself?
I’m 31 and I live in North London. I love travelling, I love films and documentaries, I love food, I love wine……obviously my family, friends and husband are up there too.
How did you meet your Groom?
We both grew up in the same area of North London and we were friends before we became romantically involved. We’ve been together for almost 11 years.
How did you come across The Mews?
I came to the Mews a few years ago when my best friend was looking for her wedding dress.
What styles were you channeling whilst dress shopping?
I didn’t have a style in mind. I was very open minded and fell in love with dresses I never thought I would like. After some time, I knew I wanted a backless dress, something which has always been hard for me but turns out it can work!
Tell us about finding your perfect Wedding dress?
I visited A LOT of places, I probably tried on about 25/30 dresses in total. After I while I never thought I would find ‘the one’. It sounds so cliché but when you know, you know and even though I couldn’t have worn the dress as it was, as it needed a bandeau attached I knew that the Jonah dress was the one. I cried, and my mum cried!
Where did your wedding day take place? Was there any themes or inspiration behind your day?
Our wedding was at Denbies Wine Estate in Dorking, Surrey on Saturday 8th September 2018. It was perfect. As it was at a vineyard, we went quite rustic, with natural white roses and green foliage, floating candles in vases, fairy lights and wooden signage. Our cake was standing on a wine barrel. My MOH and bridesmaids wore silver and Joe’s best man and groomsmen wore charcoal grey.
What did he wear?
Joe wore a 3-piece charcoal grey suit which we had made. His waistcoat was a different shade of grey which made the suit really pop. He finished it off with a gold pocket watch which I had bought him as a wedding gift.
What was your favourite detail of the day?
Picking one detail is so hard as I truly loved it all. But if I was forced to choose one, I would say it was out first dance. We danced to Chuck Berry’s ‘You never can tell’ and did our best Uma Thurman and John Travolta from Pulp Fiction which is one of our favorite films.
What advise would you give out to a bride to be about finding the perfect dress?
Be open minded, and always remember that there are possibilities. I never thought I would be able to wear the dress I did but with the help of The Mews and Sewn Right it ended up being my dream dress, and one of a kind.
Words of wedded wisdom?
Everyone told me to enjoy every minute because the day goes so fast and it’s true it really does so I made sure I had the best time. I didn’t want it to end, so much so that we stayed up until 6am drinking tequila!!……just the way it should have been.
