Choosing a wedding planner is a big step towards a stress-free wedding day! But finding the perfect planner for you could certainly be a bit stressful and that is why we have prepared some tips on how to find the right planner for you!
The number one thing to keep in mind while interviewing wedding planners is to figure out if you will be comfortable talking to this person every day for at least the next 6 months. Make sure your personalities vibe together and that you are comfortable around them as you might be arguing with your other half in front of him or her about wedding details.
- Compatibility and Experience are very important!
Not only do you want the planners style and personality to match your liking, you also want to figure out if they can plan the event you want in the way you want it. We always recommend in-person consultings if possible. You also want to make sure the planner is asking you lots of questions and is enthusiastic about your ideas.
If not they might not be a good fit. Ask about references and call them up to figure out how your planner works and what other couples have experienced with them.
- Ask questions and do your research!
Research their online presence and check out if their style of weddings is what you have in mind. It is important to ask detailed questions. For example, ask them what vendors and photographers they have worked with. Ask them some personal questions as well to learn about them and get to know them so you will be able to connect on a personal level.
Ask them what made them want to be a wedding planner or what their favourite part of planning is. It is nice to have your consultations in a conversational way rather than a questioning.
- Talk about money early on!
To save everyone time and yourself maybe a huge disappointment make sure that your planner’s fee is in your budget and talk openly about money. A good planner will surely be able to work with your budget but if everything they offer is totally out of your budget, it will be very difficult for them to deliver the results you are dreaming of.
Even though hiring a wedding planner is an added cost, they often end up saving you money in the long run. And no doubt- the right planner can definitely save you stress, which is priceless!
