Meet our wonderful Mews bride Yuki who was a vision of elegance on her wedding day. The couple looked like they were straight out of a timeless Hollywood movie with a monochromatic theme and simple, elegant dress code. This day was all about celebrating their love and you can just feel the pure joy and happiness radiating from their photos!
Tell us your love story…
We met after university through a mutual friend and we’ve been together for 8 years now! When he proposed, we were on holiday in Sicily! We had gone on a day trip to a town called Ragusa, it was over 30 degrees and I just climbed up a hill when he asked me to marry him. The memory is very blurry and I apparently still haven’t said yes!
How did you come across The Mews?
I live nearby the studio in Bristol and had been researching a lot prior to visiting any bridal shops. Some friends of mine who are married had recommended it to me knowing what my personal style is like.
What styles were you channelling whilst dress shopping?
I always wanted something very simple and not trend-led. I also knew that I wouldn’t want to change dresses throughout the day so I wanted something that would feel comfortable and allow me to dance!
Tell us about the moment you realised the dress was meant to be yours…
As soon as I saw the Lazlo dress by Delphine Manivet, I knew it was mine! It is made from a gorgeous silk with a very light chiffon layer. It could not have been more comfortable or lightweight.
What advice would you give to a bride about finding the perfect dress?
Go with your gut instinct and what you feel most comfortable in. I (somewhat controversially) went to all my bridal appointments alone as I did not want anyone to influence how I felt in the dress and wanted to truly gauge how I felt
Tell us about your aesthetic for the day…
We got married in the Cotswolds at Stone Barn and initially, I wanted everything to be monochrome. Our wedding party all wore black but changed my mind last minute and we incorporated different shades of pink and reds to accent. My husband found a classic, black tie style suit in Suit Supply and it all turned out to be the perfect balance of formal and romantic.
What was your favourite wedding detail?
My sister officiated our ceremony which made it very personal and a really memorable ceremony for our guests.
Words of wedded wisdom?
Enjoy it and stay calm. I really enjoyed the whole process and found myself missing it as soon as it was over! On the day, make sure to take some time with just you and your partner so that you can sit back and truly take it all in. It can be quite chaotic on the day so having these moments to really appreciate it has been some of my most cherished memories. And remember to eat!
Are you planning a honeymoon, if so where are you off to?
We took a mini-moon to Venice straight after the wedding but are off to Japan for a longer trip in the Spring.
