Our lovely Bristol bride Hannah met her husband Tom at university and the rest was history. Recently we had the opportunity to ask Hannah to tell us more about their special day at Deswall Court in Hertfordshire and the moment she found ‘the’ dress with us at The Mews! Hannah rocked the shimmering florals of the ‘Lou’ dress by Caroline Takvorian and Maison Sabben earrings. She made it a glam outfit with her Jimmy Choo stilettos and a dramatic couples kiss in front of a red classic car.
Tell us a little about yourself
My name’s Hannah and I live with my husband Tom in Bristol. I work as a doctor and love spending my spare time seeing friends and family and attempting to renovate our house that we recently bought!
What’s your engagement story?
I’m from Cardiff and have always spent a lot of time in Pembrokeshire on holiday. We love walking along the coastline in the fresh air. We were walking along the coastline one weekend and Tom surprised me with the proposal.
What was it that drew you to pay a visit to The Mews Bridal?
I was looking for a wedding dress that was sophisticated, elegant and a little unusual. Having lived in Bristol for a number of years I had passed The Mews on many occasions and always loved the variety of the unique and elegant designs through the window. Getting engaged just before lockdown meant the wedding planning and hunting for a wedding dress all got delayed. But as soon as I was able to visit The Mews Bridal with my mum and with a glass of champagne in hand I knew that I was going to find THE dress.
Tell us about the moment you found your dress…
I was looking for something elegant but unusual and when I saw the Lou, Caroline Takvorian, dress I just knew it was exactly what I was looking for. After trying it on for the first time I knew I had found ‘the one’. I couldn’t be more grateful to everyone at The Mews Bridal in Clifton for making me feel so comfortable and for all of their very valuable advice.
What advice would you give to a bride about finding the perfect dress?
Be open minded and try on a number of different styles. The style you think you might like from looking at pictures might not be the one you feel the most comfortable in.
Where did your wedding day take place and were there any inspirations behind the day’s aesthetic?
We got married at Dewsall Court in Herefordshire and the ceremony took place in a small church on the grounds. I love the colour green and because the venue was surrounded by so much beautiful countryside I wanted to incorporate that in our day with plenty of foliage and a rustic feel. The bridesmaid dresses were a light green sage colour and the groom and groomsmen wore a green tie. One of our wonderful friends was our florist and she covered the beams in the barn where the wedding breakfast took place with foliage and plenty of wild flowers on the long tables.
Words of wedded wisdom?
Try and make some time during the wedding day to step away and take it all in just the both of you. You’re so busy speaking to all of your family and friends on the day it’s important to take some time just the both of you.
