People advise you to choose a job you would love to do but sometimes the bonus is finding unexpected love where you work and this is exactly what happened to Faye and Ross. Faye who works in interior design grew fond of Ross after bonding at a very famous, eclectic festival that is known world wide, Glastonbury.
The wedding took place at Pennard House, Somerset. Pennard House looks to be some what of a hidden treasure that is surrounded by breathtaking Somerset countryside an ideal location for Faye’s perfect English wedding. Faye’s flowers, definitely created by love, had that extra special personal factor as her mum who is a florist designed the beautiful arrangement of blooms that added dreamy subtle succulence to a gorgeous day.
Faye wore a Suzanne Neville dress called Phoenix and like many brides what she had envisaged went completely out of the window when she tried on the structured, fitting silhouette of the Phoenix dress. With Faye being 5ft the Phoenix dress worked perfectly with her petite frame and she looked stunning. As well as the understated glamour of the dress, Phoenix has an incredible sheer back making it look extra alluring. The sheerness also brings romance and elegance with delicate pretty lace detailing on the sleeves and around the back.
With Pennard House screaming exquisite grace and Faye looking beauteous overall it’s the epitome of a timeless winner.
Tell us a little about yourself?
I’m 29 and work for an interior design company – my main passion is interiors and travel. I originally grew up in Somerset and after time away at university I realised I wanted to live the idyllic country way of life Somerset has to offer and haven’t looked back since.
How did you meet your groom?
Ross and I met at work where we became friends, after bonding after a particular Glastonbury Festival we realised we had more than just a friendship.
How did you come across the Mews?
I often go shopping in Clifton Village as I adore the quirky independent shops on offer there and every time I walked past the Mews in Clifton I knew it would be first on my list when the time came!
What styles were you channelling whilst dress shopping?
I was after an unstructured style with lace and definitely a sleeve, a sleeve was a must! I wanted the dress to make me feel elegant and romantic.
Tell us about finding your perfect wedding dress?
The Mews was my first port of call when it came to dress shopping, excitedly I booked the appointment and brought along my mum and sister who was my maid of honour for my initial appointment. In the run up I had spent hours on pinterest gathering ideas of what I thought would suit me- I had vintage at the forefront of my mind. All of that however went out the window and I was instantly drawn to the Suzanne Neville dress, a modern fitted silhouette with a stunning back detail – I just thought wow! It was the first dress I tried on – I had ‘the feeling’ but just to make sure I tried on other dresses. Whilst the rest were all lovely, I went back to my first dress and couldn’t believe I had found the dress so quickly. The deal was sealed after I was told the dress was called ‘Phoenix’. The place has a huge personal significance to me.
I loved the fitted style which complimented my height (I’m only 5ft!) and couldn’t wait for Ross to see the dress!
The process was made even more special as I got to meet Suzanne Neville in a designer day at the Mews a few days later and asked how the dress making process is orchestrated. Finding the dress was my favourite highlight of the wedding planning process.
Where did your wedding day take place? Were there any themes or inspiration behind your day?
The wedding took place at Pennard House, Somerset. The ceremony in the small church opposite the venue, just a stone’s throw from where Ross and I both grew up.
Pennard House is a beautiful country home with a converted Coachhouse as a reception space. There was no theme as such but we wanted to highlight the romance of the house, the house’s stunning surroundings and its rustic elegance. We kept it simple by using lots of blushes, greens, whites and gold.
What did he wear?
Ross wore a traditional morning suit. Black jacket, grey pinstriped trousers and a pale gold cravat to tie in with the tones of the bridesmaids dresses.
What was your favourite detail of the day?
The day was fantastic, if I had to choose it would be the flowers. My mum is a florist so we had spent months planning on design and colours but she utterly surpassed everything I thought it would turn out like! She even surprised us with a gorgeous flower arch over the church . The table arrangements came together so beautifully by incorporating seasonal flowers, foliage and berries together.
What advice would you give out to a bride to be about finding the perfect dress?
My best advice would be to remain open minded about their dress style. Many brides may have an idea of what they would like as the perfect dress but could end up missing an opportunity to find the perfect one.
Words of wedded wisdom
Relax and enjoy your day. Make sure to take 5 minutes out, away from it all just take in everything and be with each other to realise the step which you have taken with each other. The time goes so quickly on the day!
