9 MODERN DRESSES TO ESCAPE THE TRADITIONAL BRIDAL LOOK

Here at The Mews we are known for having hidden gems and something a bit different. With all of our designers being exclusive to us in the U.K you know that our dresses are illusive in their nature, guaranteeing that you will stand out from the rest.

In the lead up to our sample sale, (which is on the 17th March) in our Notting Hill boutique, we thought we would give you a sneak peak of what’s to come, and the pieces to keep an eye out for.

Delphine Manivet Anatole

Known as the pioneer of French Bridal Fashion, Delphine leads the way with beautiful fabrics and elegant cuts all with French flair. The Anatole dress is a slightly dropped waist fit, which is super flattering if you are a little straight up and down as it creates a softer silhouette.

The long draped bow detailing at the nape of the neck adds a touch of femininity whilst adding a modern touch to a classic bridal detail. Anatole is designed for the clean-cut bride who wants simplicity at its best.

Rime Arodaky Aleph

From Rime’s much loved Mystical Love collection Aleph’s all over boho lace really channels a beachy yet Florence and The Machine vibe.

With lace pockets and an open lace-up back, you have a lovely mix of the new with the old. The quirky touches and style of lace make Aleph a mysterious and intriguing choice for a modern lace look.

Laure de Sagazan Baudelaire

Laure is known for being looser in silhouette, warmer in colour and perfect for the ultimate boho bride. The Baudelaire has a beautiful fleck in the main fabric with corded lace applique detailing along the back that hugs around to the front of the bodice.

If you are bored of silk and crepe, Baudelaire is definitely the dress for you. Texture is always a great tool to play on, so throw on suede heels and add a silk ribbon to your hairpiece to make it a statement.

Donatelle Godart Holiday Snapshots

What a dress! With a silk slip and lace overlay you instantly have two dresses in one. If you want to change your look from day to night, whip off the lace and add heavy accessories, like our new Maison Sabben Univers earrings to keep it chic and looking polished.

With such a unique lace it is enough to rival Aleph, but the silhouette is completely different and fits a laid back affair.

Rime Arodaky Otis

If you are looking for a wow-factor Otis is the dress for you. Showing off your figure is the name of the game, with a gorgeous a-symmetric lace ruffle. The cut of Otis is fairly modest which allows for the peep of leg to fit really well and not look out of place.

The Otis dress boasts a very modern take on bridal and will have you feeling and looking like a million dollars.

Rime Arodaky Sage

Become the 70’s bride you always wanted to be with our 2018 Runaways collection, Sage dress. With 3D floral applique, bell sleeves and an ethereal feel, you will feel every bit like a flower child.

Keeping it playful and modern, Sage has two slits in the crepe underskirt showing a little more skin – a trademark Rime is known for, whilst still having slightly more coverage on the arms.

Margaux Tardits Noublie J’amais

Sweet and sexy is the look of Margauxs Noublie J’amais. With a feminine lace bodysuit you can amp up the sass showing as much or as little cleavage as you want.

With such a delicate over dress, the silk puts a filter over the lace, blurring out your flesh and really highlighting the lace pattern. With the fabrics being so fine, the dress is exceptionally light and easy to dance the night away in.

Rime Arodaky Buckley

Avant-garde with its double ruffle which falls from the scoop back through to the hips, Buckley is a dress to create drama in.

With a gorgeous lace applique bodice, you create balance in the overall look so the ruffles don’t dominate the silhouette. Light in movement, the dress will move with you, which would be great for any high-energy ceilidh.

Delphine Manivet Edouard and Archibald lace top

Our final choice is another Delphine Manivet number. Subtly sophisticated Delphine’s bias cut Edouard creates a killer shape with gorgeous volume in the skirt and train.

For a little coverage, we love adding the Archibald top. The high-low hem of the top and unique fastening system creates a beautiful cross over back. With fine delicate Calais lace this is much more of a softer and demure modern bridal look.

All of the ticket sale proceeds from the Sample Sale will be donated to our charity of choice, Girls Not Brides. All over the world Girls Not Brides are working to end child marriage and to allow our girls to take back control of their lives.

We hope to see you there!
