HOW TO GET EXTRA WOW FACTOR WITH A BACKLESS DRESS

We love any dress that makes a statement, whether it be subtle or controversial.

Anything that gets people talking is a hit with us!

A feature we feel really conquers this is a low or backless dress. It creates a great contrast between your skin and the dress and draws focus on any detail that the back of the dress has. No matter what style you are aiming for, a backless dress works every time and always grabs peoples attention.

We’ve listed a few of our favourite backless dresses that we guarantee will make the perfect statement on your wedding day.

Rime Arodaky is known for being bold in her designs, so it goes without saying that she loves using a low back or backless feature on her gowns.

An already firm favourite with our brides is the new 2019 collection Alvin dress. With its modest boat neckline and feminine capped sleeve it instantly provides the element of surprise once the back is revealed – its daring low back and flowing lace train skirt really does take your breath away! It is the most perfect contrast of sophisticated, sexy and bohemian. This dress is ideal for the modern, fashion forward bride.

If you’re not quite comfortable with having your whole back out, but would like to still show some skin then the Drieu slip dress by Laure de Sagazan is a great pick.

Having the backless slip dress paired with a delicate lace top will still show your skin without it completely being on show. We love using the Dormoy top from Laure’s 2019 collection, as it is more of a delicate, contemporary lace. It comes slightly cropped and stops just at the right point, so that you can still see your shape.

The beauty of having the separate top is that if you did want to remove it at any point of the day, you can and will give you a whole other look. We love the understated statement it brings and works great for relaxed and feminine brides!

We’ve introduced a few new designers for 2019 and we could not be more excited!

One of them is Isabella Boutin who is already making a name for herself. With the majority of her collection in our studios being backless, we are truly spoilt for choice. Ophelie is completely backless and has bold thick straps going straight into the waistband, which we feel gives the ultimate wow factor. It’s sultry, unique and super dreamy! While it is definitely a dress made for warmer climates, if you love this style but are either having a winter wedding or prefer to have a sleeve then the Laetitia dress will tick those boxes for you.

It has the same bold floral lace as the Ophelie and is completely backless again, however it has a full-length sleeve instead. Both styles are wonderfully whimsical and perfect for the daring boho bride.

Depending on your shape, if you have a slightly broader back and are worried about enhancing this, going for either a keyhole open back or upside down V back will give the illusion of a smaller frame.

A great dress for doing this is the ‘She Walks in Beauty’ dress by Donatelle Godart. It has a romantic, contemporary lace top that fastens at the top of the back and frames either side of the back that creates a beautiful shape, helping to narrow the top of the back.

This back shape is also a great option for brides who may want to have their shoulders covered but still show off some skin in the back!
