A fun-loving wedding in New York State

Dress: Edouard
Designer: Delphine Manivet
Where: The Mews New York

Tell us a little about yourself?
I grew up in NYC. I currently work as a Data Scientist for a FinTech startup. Althought I have never lived anywhere other than NYC I love to travel more than anything. I enjoy the arts, science, golf, swimming, and the list goes on.

How did you meet your Groom?
A friend introduced us, and we met on the Metro North. We were friends for a few months before we started dating. A fun tidbit is that we have the same last name.

How did you come across The Mews?
After going to a few bridal shops in NYC that I really didn’t care for, I resorted to google. I love the French language and French culture (perhaps from studying ballet seriously in high school) so when I found that a UK based bridal shop with all French designers was opening their first location in NYC in the coming weeks I knew this was going to be the place.

What styles were you channeling whilst dress shopping?
Simple, not over the top, something flowing, I really didn’t have a specific style.

Tell us about finding your perfect Wedding dress?
I brought my few closest friends with me to try on dresses at The Mews. I picked a few dresses, but also let my friends pick some out too as they have much better style than me. When I walked out in the dress all my friends gasped. I took my friends’ opinions and turns out they were right – everyone, young and old, men and women, raved about my dress. I guess that’s what friends are for.

Where did your wedding day take place?
A golf club in Westchester. My dad has been a member for 35 years, and I just became a member. I grew up there – the staff is like family to me. The color scheme was blue and white mainly, it had kind of a golf theme because both my husband and I are avid golfers.

What was your favourite detail of the day?
It is hard to pick one detail of the day. But I do think one of them is my dad and I dancing to Shaggy, Angel for our Father-Daughter dance. My dad and I are best friends, we wanted to do something fun, and surprisingly Angel by Shaggy is one of my dad’s favorite songs. Everyone was dancing and singing, it definitely set the tone for the evening.

What advise would you give out to a bride to be about finding the perfect dress?
Go with your instinct. It is easy to get carried a way trying on a ton of dresses. I would say stay true to your style because then you will feel happy and confident and it will be that much more fun!

Words of wedded wisdom?
It’s hard for me to say. I went into my wedding saying there is nothing that could happen to ruin it. I didn’t let anything bother me. A few people mentioned that made the wedding that much more fun, that they knew Jackson and I were really enjoying every second – even despite a couple mishaps.
